LINCA
The Learning Innovation Network for the Creative Arts
LINCA- the Learning Innovation Network for the Creative Arts- is a network of people and resources in the University for the Creative Arts. The network comprises Teaching and Learning Coordinators in each College, Learning Technology Coordinators, Learning Researchers and Developers, and support staff in Quality and Standards.
Teaching and Learning Coordinators (TLC's)
The role and responsibilities for the TLC's include:
- contributing to the development and implementation of the College Teaching and Learning Strategy
- co-ordination of the peer observation scheme
- supporting applications by staff for membership of teaching organisations (Higher Education Academy and Lifelong Learning UK)
- coordinating and supporting Teaching and Learning Research Fund applications which promote the innovation and dissemination of pedagogic practice and scholarship
- coordinating and contributing to the delivery of continuous professional development in teaching and learning in the College
- contributing to the delivery of the Post Graduate Certificate (PGC) Learning and Teaching in the Creative Arts and the support of PGC participants in the College
- contributing to College research projects and participating in own pedagogic and professional development
- ensuring equality of opportunity among peers, students and other stakeholders for Teaching Fellow and Teaching Excellence Awards
Learning Technology Coordinator's (LT's)
The role and responsibilities for the LT's include:
- supporting the implementation of the Teaching Learning and Assessment Strategy
- contributing to the development, implementation and evaluation of effective modes of teaching learning and assessment using appropriate technologies to enhance creative and innovative curricula
- developing the virtual learning environment (Blackboard) and its users to implement use of the VLE
- participating in Teaching and Learning Research Fund applications which promote the innovation and dissemination of pedagogic practice and scholarship with respect to learning technologies
- contributing to the delivery of continuous professional development with respect to alternative learning technologies
- contributing to the delivery of the PGC with respect to learning technologies
- participating in own pedagogic and professional development
Learning Researchers and Developers
The role and responsibilities for LRD's include:
- to conduct research into teaching and learning practice that correspond to one or more of the areas of investigation identified in the Teaching learning and Assessment strategy. Initially these are:
- impact of research in the creative arts on teaching
- the impact of the use of new technology on student learning in the creative arts
- strategies for transition and retention
- employability and entrepreneurship in the creative arts
- to identify, analyse and evaluate current practice within thee University
- to identify, analyse and evaluate corresponding practice external to the University
- to identify and disseminate findings on the UCA LINCA website
- to contribute to publications, case studies and conferences
- to contribute to workshops or other staff development opportunities
