UCA @ Glastonbury 2010
23 - 27 June 2010
In 2009 the University for the Creative Arts was the first university to have a stand at Glastonbury Festival of Contemporary Performing Arts. We're continuing to develop our relationship with the festival by returning with fresh ideas and big plans for 2010.
We'll be on site to offer free activities such as photo sessions, screenings a daily documentary, free film, free internet access, public wi-fi, hands on craft trials, interactive artworks, a bullet rig, demos and of course information on all of our art, design and media courses.
Led by 20 staff and students from our Farnham and Epsom locations as well as the Students' Union, the University felt it can represent the green spirit of the festival, particularly in terms of innovations in sustainability, traditional craftsmanship and forerunners in new technology.
Tim Savage Resource Co-ordinator for Media and Communications at UCA Farnham, who is organising the UCA attendance, said "Last year we had a fantastic event to celebrate our first year with university title, this year we're excited to be back with more ambitious plans to showcase our students experience".

Good Practice
UCA's good practice was identified by HEFCE and UCA have been asked to contribute towards a pilot project promoting access to higher education via public engagement at festivals through collaboration with the Beacons project.
Although made famous by music and mud, Glastonbury's main objectives include donating to, & providing money raising opportunities for, world charities (such as Greenpeace, Oxfam and Water Aid) and promoting environmentally friendly techniques and technologies. Glastonbury is a friendly, community orientated festival which matches the UCA ethos of offering a friendly and supportive academic community to all our staff and students.
The Glastonbury Festival was the brainchild of Michael Eavis in 1970 and has snowballed into the largest "green-field" music and performing arts festival in the world. Over the years the festival has attracted some of the most famous music acts such as David Bowie, Van Morrison, (and more recently) Lily Allen and Jay-Z.
Do come by and visit us, we're at stand I2/13, (Opposite the Pyramid)
