The service provides professional counselling to individual students free of charge.
It's good to talk
Life at university can be both exciting and challenging. Although you may find your way through the stresses of academic life without seeking professional support, you may also encounter issues you had not anticipated which add to the stress and make it more difficult to realise your full potential.
The Counselling Service is free to any current registered student of UCA.
Our counsellors are qualified and experienced professionals who are here to listen and offer you support. We can be contacted directly via email, or through the Gateway in the Library on each campus. Access to the service varies in order to best meet the needs of each campus.
Sometimes it is appropriate to refer students to other sources for specialist help, either internally (for example welfare or disability support) or outside agencies (such as your doctor).
For more information on how the Counselling Service can help, please read our information sheet.
We are not a crisis service. This means we are unable to offer immediate support any time it is needed. If you are in need of more immediate emotional support, you may wish to consider contacting the Samaritans or Nightline
If you need more immediate support, we suggest contacting your GP or calling 111, or in an emergency calling 999 or presenting to your nearest A&E.
