About eStream Player
On demand video and multi-media collection
eStream Player is the University Library's system to access recorded television and radio broadcasts via your desktop, tablet or mobile. The programmes are available on or off campus, 24/7 and in-perpetuity.
Access eStream Player at
Off campus use your standard UCA computer login.
On campus you should not need to log in unless you are using Firefox or Safari.
Please be aware eStream Player cannot be accessed outside the UK.
The University Library holds an Educational Recording Agency (ERA+) licence that allows us to legally record broadcast material to eStream Player. The licence also enables us to transfer our retrospective collection of television and radio broadcasts, currently held on DVD and VHS.
Since April 2012 eStream Player has had the functionality to record freeview TV programmes with subtitles that can be toggled on or off. Before this date subtitled TV recordings were only made by prior arrangement with a member of library staff. Unfortunately due to the restrictions of the ERA+ licence it is not permissible to add subtitles or audio description to pre-existing material. This means that anything transferred onto eStream Player from our VHS collections will not have subtitles.
The University Library can source subtitled freeview programmes from the British Universities Film & Video Council (BUFVC) for programmes broadcast from August 2009 onwards. Please contact the Digital Imaging Officer for further details (see contact details below).
Programmes recorded through our Sky subscription do not automatically have subtitles; however subtitles can be added permanently at the point of recording by prior arrangement with library staff, see contact details below. It is not possible to toggle subtitles on and off Sky programmes once they have been transferred to eStream Player.
The University Library also has access to audio description services for the visually impaired via our subscription to Sky. Audio description can be added at the point of recording by prior arrangement with library staff, see contact details below. These programmes are then made available on eStream Player.
If you have any requests for forthcoming TV or radio broadcasts please contact the Collections Development Librarian, Jane Bryder at firstname.lastname@example.org.
If you have any technical issues with accessing eStream Player please contact the Digital Imaging Officer, Lisa Moore at email@example.com. Recorded programmes are available within 10 working days.
